Skilled Nursing Care

At NHC HealthCare, Lewisburg we provide skilled nursing care to medically complex patients who require 24/7 nursing care services. Supervision is available for activities of daily living including help with bathing, dressing, grooming, meals, incontinence care, transfers, and medication management. Technical components may include the use of dementia care, medical nutritional therapy, intravenous therapy, feeding tubes, colostomies, wound care, and inhalation therapy. Customer satisfaction is our goal to help each patient achieve and maintain the highest level of function.

Private and semi-private rooms are available with their own private bathroom. Room amenities include cable and daily housekeeping. Personal laundry, private telephone and beauty shop services are available at an additional cost. Patients may choose in room dining or dining in one of our central dining rooms. We also provide individualized and group activities seven days a week that are tailored to the individual interests of the patients.

The safety of our patients is of utmost concern. As such, each patient room is equipped with an emergency call system, each entrance/exit door is equipped with a wander guard system, and the Center is protected by a state-of-the-art fire safety system.

Respite Care

Respite Care at NHC HealthCare, Lewisburg, is a short term care program designed to give family members a much needed break from the demands of caring for the chronically or terminally ill at home. Whether it's for a weekend or a few weeks, we provide patients with a comfortable, secure medical and social environment.

Therapy Services

Our highly trained therapy team is dedicated to maximizing independence for those in need of inpatient and outpatient physical, occupational, or speech therapy services. Patients at NHC HealthCare, Lewisburg experience rapid progress following the extensive and personalized programs developed by our therapy professionals.

Inpatient Rehabilitation Care

Through our inpatient six day per week rehabilitation services, we provide for the special needs of patients requiring 24 hour skilled nursing care combined with physical, occupational, and speech therapies. Services include treatment for orthopedic patients who have undergone total joint replacements or orthopedic surgeries for reconstruction, as well as patients with other diagnosis such as neurological disorders, strokes, or dementia. Not only do our services target the long-term care patient, but also the patient requiring inpatient rehabilitation care on a short-term basis, to prepare for a return home.

Outpatient Rehabilitation Care

Through our outpatient rehabilitation services, we provide physical, occupational, and speech therapies for patients with a wide range of diagnosis and conditions. Our outpatient therapy program provides traditional therapy for recovery from diagnosis such as knee or hand surgery, lower back and neck pain, muscular deficiency, cognitive deficits, or swallowing disorders. Our aquatic therapy program has helped patients make great strides toward regaining their prior level of function and live at home safer and happier.

Therapy Services Provided

  • Physical Therapy - Helps patients regain their strength and mobility, manage pain or adapt to a permanent disability.

  • Occupational Therapy - Helps patients regain as much independence as possible with visual perception training, upper extremity strength and conditioning, and self care skills.

  • Speech Therapy - Helps patients overcome communication conditions such as aphasia, swallowing difficulties, and voice disorders.

  • Inhalation Therapy - Assists patients with breathing difficulties to reduce fatigue and increase tolerance in performing daily activities.

  • Medical Nutritional Therapy - Promotes a better diet and a healthier lifestyle with personal counseling and nutrition guidance.

Hospice Care

At NHC HealthCare, Lewisburg we partner with Caris Healthcare to provide hospice services as may be requested by terminally ill patients and their families.

The hospice team provides medical, emotional, social, and spiritual support to patients and families coping with life-limiting illnesses. Our hospice program acts as an extension of the primary caregiver. Caris assists by making regularly scheduled visits to provide care and comfort, and by being available around the clock to answer end of life questions. We strive to help patients and families understand what to expect across the disease process. With education, hands on care, and being a shoulder to cry on, we want to make every day count. End of life is inevitable, but how one spends the precious time left is a personal choice.

Through the NHC-Caris partnership, we can help relieve some of the burdens, allowing the patient and family to spend their time together comfortably and better prepared for what is to come.
